Today i feel

It’s important for ADHD/ASD children to know how they are feeling. If they practice being “mindful” of their present state, they can take the necessary steps to ask for help.

The goal is to stay in the green. If a student is feeling feelings in the yellow section, the student can still try to bring themselves back to green by taking a sensory break, a quick restroom break, or even talking to an adult about what is wrong.

But if the student is blue or red, the situation could result in a meltdown. This is an indicator to remove the student from the area and to a less overstimulating and/or sensory overloading environment.

Talking to your student before hand and have a game plan and communicating when concerned is a must to preventing meltdowns.
